About Us

Brock Equine is a full service Equestrian Center offering Boarding, Lessons, and Training at our 11 acre facility located in Newark, New York. Established in 2014, the facility has been remodeled to include a climate controlled tack room, lockers complete with LED lighting inside, and updated fencing. A new base and footing with incorporated rubber has been put in to our indoor arena to accommodate our Lessons and Jumping activities. The indoor is 60×120 and extra tall to allow jumping. A brand new 80×220 outdoor arena complete with vinyl fencing has now been completed. There are a total of 23 stalls and 3 runs with attached paddocks. There is a fully functioning bathroom complete with a shower and a viewing area/ lounge that overlooks the indoor arena. Our large pastures give the horses room to be horses.

Katie Brock

Our Riding Instructor, Katie Brock has been riding for over 25 years and has ridden a multitude of disciplines, from Dressage and Eventing to Hunters and even Western. She earned her Certification in Dressage from the American Riding Instructors Association in 2002 and and is still presently certified to this day. In 2005, she graduated from Medaille College earning her degree in Veterinary Technology, making her the only Veterinary Technician AND Certified Riding Instructor in the Finger Lakes area. From 1999 to 2010 she worked as a Stable Manager at a local Equestrian center in charge of the husbandry of almost 30 horses.  In 2000, Katie began offering freelance training and riding instruction which continued until the opening of Brock Equine. She continues to receive instruction to enhance her skills so that she can continue to provide up to date training techniques and lesson exercises. Since 2005, Katie has worked as a Veterinary Technician, working at such notable places as University of Rochester. While still in school, Katie completed a 90 hour, hands on training, internship with Genesee Valley Equine Clinic, assisting with treatments such as colic, lameness, and Euthanasia, as well as routine care like Vaccinations and Dentistry. Having had numerous young horses, Katie is well versed in starting horses and preparing them to ride as well as furthering their current skills, giving them a refresher, or even switching disciplines altogether. Although, not highly competitive, Katie does enjoy taking her students to shows and partaking in a little friendly competition from time to time as well as the occasional group trail ride. But enough about Katie. On to the real star of this show.

Dave Stephens

Dave Stephens is the owner and our resident property manager. He’s in charge of everything from electrical and plumbing, to repairing equipment and updating the facility. If anything goes wrong on the property, chances are Dave can fix it. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology in 2000, Dave earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has done everything from writing software for test equipment to designing motor controls and lighting systems. At Brock Equine, he has been the driving force behind all of the much needed repairs and property updating. Just about everywhere you look around here, you will see Dave’s handy work. A few examples of Dave’s work are the recessed lighting in all of the stalls so that horses cannot bump their heads on the light bulbs any longer. Also, all the carpentry that went into building the lockers was all Dave as well as most of remodeling the tack room. It’s safe to say that without Dave, Brock Equine would never have come to be.

We’re glad you’ve come to see what we’re all about and we hope that you contact us soon.
